GLOBAL WARMING!
by Ida J. Lewenstein
Time is Fleeting
Time is Fleeting
Time and Tide won’t Wait
Time is Fleeting
It bears Repeating
We must Act before it’s TOO Late!
It’s Really a Pity!
by Ida J. Lewenstein
It’s really a pity
How much we dirty our city
With bottles, paper and food
Our hands that hold them
Seem to unload them
Whenever we’re in the mood.
We had better consider
Where we drop our litter
It’s getting out of control.
We need to be more dutiful
To America the Beautiful.
Let’s make it everyone’s goal!
Columbus
by Ida J. Lewenstein
Who was Christopher Columbus?
Over here we call him Columbus.
In Spain he’s called Colón.
In Italy, they say Colombo.
By any name, he’s very well known.
Who was this man – Columbus?
Why is he so well known?
What did he do for you and me –
Who was Cristóbal Colón?
Well, he was a courageous sailor,
Born in Genoa, Italy,
And he had a strange notion
That by crossing the ocean
He could find spices and tea.
He needed ships and money,
But he didn’t have a cent,
So he decided to ask his people
And the Italian government.
They all said, “You’re crazy!
You’re foolish to even try.
The world is flat –
We all know that.
You fall off,
And you’re sure to DIE!”
Columbus shouted back in anger,
“It’s not like that at all!
Pizza is flat.
It’s not like that –
It’s more like a bocci ball.”
But they still didn’t believe him.
They said he was crazy,
EVEN INSANE!
So he decided to leave his country
And try his luck In Spain.
Said he, “I’ll call on Queen Isabella.
Maybe she’ll listen to me.
I need a carabela,
Perhaps two or three.”
Well, Isabella listened to Columbus,
And with him she did agree.
“Colón, you impressive fella,
I’ll help you get to sea.”
And this same Queen Isabella
(A generous lady was she)
Granted him three carabelas.
And the rest, well, the rest is history!
